Plight of the Child Foundation

Plight of the Child Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization with the Objective, to fight against all forms of discrimination and abuse against children and to seek the general welfare of children in Ghana.

Their work motives stem from being a mouthpiece for abused children in our rural areas where they engage in various projects for children in such unfortunate positions.

Orphanages & Homes

John A. Moritz an American who saw the need to form a body for all Orphanages and Children’s Homes founded ACHO GHANA. The Association of Children’s Homes is a supervisory organization which was established in January 2007 under the auspices of the Registrar Generals Department. It was set up to co-ordinate the efforts of NGO’s and corporate bodies in support of all Orphanages in Ghana.


Rural Community Development

The idea of the organization was established in 2001 with  simple gestures of the founder Mrs Angelina Ainooson  visiting, catering and providing for families living in poverty or orphans without biological parents by reaching out and visiting rural villages to inquire, verify and extend a heart of compassion by means of assisting with medical, educational or nutritional support.

It is a market oriented enterprise development organization that empowers small to medium scale enterprises through strategic partnerships, capacity building, creative products and advisory services.


Street Academy

Street Academy was set up as a shelter in 1986 to explore the hidden talent of disadvantaged children on the streets of Accra in the fields of sports, arts, cultural, music, drama and basic education as non-formal education. Its aim is to provide free basic education to children aged between 8 and 18, as well as uniforms, books and a decent meal each day. Education is not free in Ghana!
